The 2016 competition for St. Clair’s Bootlegger Balladeer and Poet Laureate will be held on January 27, 2016 at 7:00 pm in La Croix’s Riverside Pub, 314 Clinton Ave., St. Clair, Michigan. The challenge is to write the best song or poem for the 2016 Legend, “An Escape from Slow Death.”

The winner of the songwriting contest will receive a proclamation from the mayor at the February 15, 2016 St. Clair City Council meeting naming he or she “St. Clair’s 2016 Bootlegger Balladeer.” The winner of the poetry contest will receive a proclamation from the mayor at the same Council meeting naming he or she “St. Clair’s 2016 Poet Laureate.”

In addition to receiving the proclamations, the first three finishers will receive cash prizes awarded by the St. Clair Rotary Club. 1st place – $250; 2nd place $150 and 3rd place $100 for each category.

This is an unusual event that is a lot of fun.
