The St. Clair Beautification Commission has a full schedule this summer organizing and implementing their regular projects as well as some fun and interesting Sesquicentennial activities.  Some of their plans include:

 

Beautification
CommissionArbor Day   On April 22, Gearing School celebrated Arbor Day with the Beautification Commission.  More than 350 students gathered to celebrate Arbor Day, Earth Day and the beautiful; weather heralding spring.  Students were chosen to plant a tree in commemoration of the event, as well as bury a time capsule filled with Gearing Gators, Arbor Day and City of St. Clair mementos. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

"150th" Patriotic Home Decorating Contest  The same as a contest held 150 years ago. Residents are invited to participate in the Sesquicentennial celebration by decorating your home, business or church.  Three prizes will be awarded in each of two categories:  residence and business/church.  Registration forms are available at Lumber Jack, Wise, Gardens & Beyond, Schweihofer & Sons, Springrove Variety, Parrish Greenhouse, Library, City Hall, and Silk's Flower Shop. The contest runs from May 2nd to June 20th.  Registration forms must be submitted to Silk's or City Hall by June 20th.  Prizes will be awarded on July 4 prior to the fireworks.  If you have any questions, please contact Jane Krebs at 329- 2907.  Download Nomination Form

 

 

Adirondack Chair Contest  The Beautification Commission is sponsoring an Adirondack Chair decorating contest. The chair kits are available at Silk's Flower Shop for $69.95. Contest rule: you must keep your chair in tact; however you may decorate it in any way you want, including adding embellishments.  Businesses and groups may wish to sponsor a chair to advertise their name and logo.  Judging for the contest is will be July 11th to 28th. Hanging Basket Project   The Beautification Commission is accepting donations for our Hanging Basket Project. We promise that our baskets to be even more beautiful this year! You can make a donation in honor or in memory of a loved one! Please help us continue this community project by submitting your donation at Silk's Flower Shop or City Hall. Please designate "Hanging Basket Project" on your donation check.

Yard-of-the-Year Contest    The Second Annual Yard of the Year Contest will be held this summer.  This year the contest is open to residences and businesses within the city limits. Nomination forms are available at Silk's Flowers, Schweihofer & Son's Landscaping, City Hall and The Red Geranium or in .pdf format.  Deadline for nominations if June 16th.  Questions?
