Rubbish
and Garbage Collection
The City's rubbish contractor is Richfield Management. Richfield Management has a toll free telephone number where residents can call with questions or complaints - 877-609-6753.
The rubbish collection day is Thursday for the entire city. Trash must be placed at the curb by 7:00 am in order to assure pick-up. When a specified holiday occurs during the week, pick-up is delayed one day and picked up on Friday. The holidays observed by Richfield Management are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.
Payment for rubbish collection is included on your water bill, marked R&G.
Regular rubbish can be placed in a trash can or a plastic bag.
Recycling
Disposal of recyclables is part of your regular trash pickup. One bin is provided for each household at no charge. Bins must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning to assure pickup. Materials that can be placed in the recycle bin are:
● Newspaper (no glossy paper please)
● Clear, green and brown glass jars and bottles. Rinse clean and remove the lid.
Labels do not have to be removed.
● Tin food and beverage cans. Rinse cans and remove label. Flatten can if possible.
● #1 and #2 household plastics containers. Discard cap and rinse.
Yard Waste
Collection of yard waste (grass, weeds, vegetation, small branches/twigs) is not included in your regular trash service and cannot be collected with your trash. Any receptacle containing these materials will be left. Richfield Management does offer a service to city residents for collection of yard waste. You must contract directly with Richfield. The cost for the service is $84 for the season which runs from April 1 through November 30. Yard waste must be placed in a specified paper bag available at grocery or hardware stores. Yard waste placed in plastics bags cannot be collected and will be left.
The City Department of Public Works offers two services to assist with yard cleanup: leaf collection (during the fall season) and brush collection (all year). These collections are done according to the schedules below.

Large Items
Large items such as furniture or kitchen appliances can be placed at the curb and will be collected, usually on your regular trash day. There is no additional charge for large item pick-up. We ask that you call Richfield Management at 877-609-6753 to let them know you have a large item out, because they will probably have to send a special truck for the pick-up.
