Your home improvement project may require a permit -
the Building Department staff is here to help
Most home improvement projects require permits prior to beginning construction. Always check to see if a permit is required for your project.
Swimming pools usually require building, electrical, plumbing and heating permits and have very specific enclosure requirements.
Decks require permits whether attached to the house or not, and require a posthole
inspections and final inspection after completion.
Sheds require a ratwall or foundation inspection and a final inspection when completed.
Additions are a bit more complicated, but easily managed if you take time to plan them out.
All projects require a set of detailed plans so we can make sure you're headed in the right direction - mistakes on paper are easily corrected.
During your planning process feel free to call or visit the Building Department for advice or printed materials that may help with your project. Office hours are 8:30 to 5:00, Monday through Friday.
