M-29 over the Pine River bascule bridge Overnight closure 4/18/22-4/19/23

M-29 will be closed for 2 (two) nights on April 18 and April 19 starting at 9pm for bridge balancing. The bridge should only be closed for a few hours on those nights but could be closed until 7am the next morning depending on how work goes. A detour will be marked during this time. This is part of the Michigan Department of Transportation 1.2 million investment into the bridge project that began mid-December.

M-29 over the Pine River bascule bridge repairs in St. Clair County start Dec. 19

SAGINAW, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $1.2 million in repairs to the M-29 bridge over the Pine River in St. Clair County. Work includes repair to the hydraulic cylinder, tail lock, and concrete patching on the bridge substructure.

Traffic restrictions:
Drivers should expect single lane closures with two full overnight closures in March or April to address bridge balancing requirements. Overnight closures will be announced in advance.

Safety benefit:
This work will address mechanical components necessary to ensure smooth operation of the structure during maritime traffic which begins again in March.
