Storm Sewer Project: What you Need to Know

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
RE: CLEANING AND TELEVISING OF STORM SEWERS
The City of St. Clair has obtained a grant from the State of Michigan to clean and televise the Cities Storm Sewers. Through a competitive bidding process, this contract was awarded to Allstate Power Vac of Taylor, Michigan. The work is scheduled to begin the week of February 13, 2017, and should be completed sometime in June of 2017. The contractor plans to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Work will begin at the North end of the city and will continue to the South.
The first step is the cleaning of the sewers with a high-pressure water jet using water from the fire hydrants. As a result of using the hydrants, the natural sediment in the lines is disturbed and may cause discoloration of the water. This does not in any way contaminate the water. Allowing your water to settle for one to two hours with minimum use and then running it for one to two minutes will clear any discoloration. If there is any discoloration DO NOT DO LAUNDRY. After cleaning the lines, the sewers are televised to evaluate their condition.
Your cooperation during this work is appreciated. Questions should be directed to the City’s Consulting Engineer, Anderson, Eckstein and Westrick, inc. at (586) 726-1234 or the Department of Public Works at (810) 329-7121 ext. 205.
Very truly yours,
