Sturgeon Festival Returns to the Blue Water Area!

Are you ready for your close encounter with these prehistoric freshwater giants?

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 30 from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Vantage Point Maritime Center in Port Huron! We will offer close encounters with lake sturgeon, the “Gentle Giants of the Great Lakes”. The festival features Huron Lady Sturgeon Cruises and indoor and outdoor displays with hands-on activities along the shores of the St. Clair River. Parking and admission are free. During the Huron Lady Sturgeon Cruises guests will be able to watch lake sturgeon swimming on the bottom of the St. Clair River via live video feed by Gregory A.D. Big screen televisions on deck will allow guests a view of the action from the bottom of the river. The festival and includes live sturgeon on display, workshops, kids’ activities, Native American food and crafts, sturgeon birthday cake, give-aways and much more. The Blue Water Sturgeon Festival is a partnership between natural resource agencies, businesses, industry, scientists, and anglers in order to highlight the ecosystem approach to managing native fish and wildlife populations in the St. Clair River and to increase threatened lake sturgeon populations to higher levels of abundance.
