Fred Moore Highway: Southbound from Clinton will be one way October 5-31

FRED MOORE HIGHWAY CONCRETE PAVEMENT REPAIRS S. 7 TH STREET TO CLINTON AVENUE OCTOBER 4, 2023 Fred Moore Highway from S. 7th Street to Clinton Avenue will undergo a concrete rehabilitation program funded in large part through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). A contract has been secured with Florence Cement of Shelby Township, Michigan to complete this project. Florence Cement is expected to start mobilizing material and equipment to the site and set up traffic control on Thursday, October 5. Sections of Fred Moore Highway that are in poor condition will be removed and new concrete placed to extend the life of the roadway. Areas to be removed have been marked out with pink paint. You can anticipate the following to take place during construction:

Traffic Control and Parking Fred Moore Highway will be open to one-way, southbound traffic for the entire project. Northbound traffic will be detoured using Carney Drive and Clinton Avenue to bypass this construction zone. Concrete pavement repairs will take place half width at a time to allow for through traffic. There is the possibility that you may lose access to your driveway if concrete pavement is removed in front of your driveway. If you do lose access to your driveway, it is expected that access to your driveway may be lost for a period of 7-10 days to allow for the placement of the new concrete and for proper curing time. Florence Cement will contact residents if driveway access will be lost to confirm that all vehicles have been removed from the driveway. Vehicles will have to be parked on adjacent side streets during this time.

Dust Control The Contractor, on a regular basis, will sweep the construction site and adjacent side streets during construction to control dust as much as possible; however, this will be an active construction zone and dust will exist and should be expected.

Irrigation Systems If you have an irrigation system, it is possible a portion of the system may be damaged or removed to replace concrete. If you do have an irrigation system, to minimize damage, we request that you mark or flag where sprinkler heads and irrigation lines may be located along the back of the roadway curb. If irrigation systems are accidentally damaged, the Contractor will replace as a part of this project.

Restoration Upon completion of the project, all disturbed areas behind the roadway curb will be restored with topsoil and seed. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to establish adequate vegetative growth of disturbed areas.

Garbage Pick-Up/Mail and Parcel Delivery Garbage pickup, mail delivery and parcel delivery will not be interrupted at any time during this project as the street will remain open to one-way local traffic. We apologize for any inconvenience that this work may cause, but trust that you will understand the benefit of this project once it is completed. For questions or concerns during the duration of the project, please contact Mr. Ryan Kern, Project Manager with the City’s engineering consultant, Anderson, Eckstein and Westrick, Inc. (AEW) at 586-854-5044, or by e-mail at rkern@aewinc.com. AEW will also have a construction observer on site for the entire duration of the project
